Now Offering Drone Experiences in Phoenix/Scottsdale

One huge benefit of being a part of the Women Who Drone community, is the amount of outreach we have to local communities. And as our commitment to expose and encourage women and girls to the UAV industry grows, it was clear we also needed to provide a more intimate experience where we offer one-on-one mentoring. Therefore, I am so excited to announce that through Women Who Drone, I am now offering drone experiences in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area! This gives you (both men and women,) a chance to hire an FAA certified drone pilot, to stand with you side by side and walk you through all that is drones. We will go through FAA rules and regulations under which drone pilots can fly, introduce you to the DJI Go app and walk you through the features and settings. And the best part, is you get to fly your drone and learn on the spot! Check out the Women Who Drone website to book your experience today!

International Drone Day

May 4th is a worldwide phenomenon, International Drone Day! A day dedicated to bring awareness and education to our local communities about the drone/UAV industry. This was my first year participating, and I was fortunate to be asked to represent Women Who Drone. Hosted by the Sierra Verde STEAM Academy in Glendale, AZ, where they have their own girls STEAM group called the Moxie Girls, the event included drone demos, talks and presentations by local first responders, and other local UAV professionals. Even though I was presenting and talking about Women Who Drone, it was a pleasure to see the turnout and insightful questions the kids asked about this emerging technology. To see their eyes light up when they learn of all the industries drones are used in today, was a delight. From just today, I can tell, the future is bright with these Moxie Girls!

Women Who Drone – Brand Ambassador Team Lead

It is with great pleasure that I announce that I am the new Brand Ambassador Team Lead for Women Who Drone! I’ve been an avid follower of WWD over the past 1.5 years as I’ve embarked on my own drone/UAV venture, and I now have the opportunity to join the ranks of some of the world’s best female drone pilots. In this new venture, I will continue my portrait and documentary work, only now I can implement the large platform of WWD to share my work, network with other drone pilots, educate, inspire and introduce others to the UAV industry. I will be overseeing the entire Brand Ambassador team of 50+ women from all over the world, as well as representing WWD at conferences, speaking on panel discussions, conducting local introductory workshops to drones, and expanding the existing ambassador program. I’m very excited to be adding WWD as a partnership to my existing work, and look forward to all the fun we’ll be having this year. If you have any questions regarding WWD, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly.

Come Fly with Me!

I’m very excited to share that after some hard studying, and time spent out with my drone on practice flights, I have passed my exam and am now an officially FAA Part 107 Certified Drone Pilot! I purchased my drone last year just about this time, and the minute I got into my hands I knew it would be a powerful and unique tool that I can utilize to capture unique footage and images. This excited me as this is still such a new technology, and the ability to think out of the box with my creativity in storytelling, is endless. As mandated by the FAA, any drone used for commercial purposes, requires the drone pilot to be Part 107 certified by passing a knowledge exam test. I consider myself quite a studious person, and enjoy the learning process, but what I was not expecting was the amount of interest I now have in the aviation field after learning all the nuances of airspace as mandated by the FAA. I am overjoyed to have this distinction and to officially launch my aerial captures department to service my clients better, tell stories in more compelling ways, and take documentary photography to the next level.

Featured on The Creative Series Blog

I’m pleased to share that I was interviewed and featured on The Creative Series Blog based out of Australia. This blog features photographers specializing in landscape, ocean, travel, lifestyle, underwater, and drone genres, of which I was so happy to fall under the category of drone photographer. Aerial photography is a genre I have incorporated into my repertoire in the past year and will be receiving my official certification from the FAA this month to be officially designated as a licensed drone pilot. I share most of my aerial/drone work on my Instagram stories, and will be incorporating more and more this year. Over the past year I’ve been able to drone in Oregon, Florida, Wisconsin, as well as in Iceland, and later this year, Portugal, Croatia and Montenegro. For more on my background with droning, you can read the full interview and article here.
